Open air day

Last Friday – the day before one week of Winterholiday – we had an open air day. We went to a nature area, close to the only castle at Aland, called Kastelholm.

There we went downhill by sledges.

We brought something to drink with us, too. It is nice to have picnic out in the snow. The temperature was about – 3 degrees C. OK it is a little bit cold but with hot chocolate I could very well stand it.

We went there and home by bus and the busdriver was very kind to me.

I had to say goodbye to all and continue my trip. Bye Bye!

Teacher stand in

A little computer work is relaxing after all outdoor activities.

Yummy!

On Tuesday we ate  ”fastlagsbulle”. This is a small sweet bun, which is eaten filled with whipped cream and almond paste/ jam. They eat these to celebrate the beginning of lent, the time of fasting, leading up to Easter.

Erik served me one with jam so I tasted it. Yummy!

Skiing downhills

Here I am together with Mathias and his friend downhill skiing. You can see that Aland isn´t flat all over. It is a very nice view.

I was a little bit afraid, but they took good care of me.

They told me that there is just one place (this) where they can perform  downhillskiing at Aland.

I have arrived in Finland

Hello!
After a long time waiting for transportation in France I have now arrived in Finland.
My first day here, on Thursday, I went together with the pupils. They went skiing and as I don´t have any skis with me I was allowed to go in bag at Mathias back.

It was nice to be there and all pupils were very kind to me.

Here you can see one of the girls in the class. She competes in skiing so she wears the official dress for skicompetitors of Aland Islands.

Later the same evening I went home together with Alexandra and in the evening we went skating. Exciting first day with lots of new sports to me.

Bye bye for now. You will hear from me again after the weekend!
